INTRODUCTION
The United States of America Wushu-Kungfu Federation, Inc. (USAWKF) is pleased to announce its Nationals and International Wushu-Kungfu Championships will be held from July 16-18, 2010 in San Jose, California. This event will be organized by Li’s Wushu Academy, Cupertino, California under the auspices of USAWKF.
The following events will also be held in San Jose during the same period: 1. USAWKF Junior Wuhu Team Trials 2. A USAWKF and USA Tai Chi Chuan Federation (USATCCF) Training Course 3. The International Wuhu-Health Qigong Championships

OVERVIEW OF COMPETITIONS AND ACTIVITIES
(1) 2010 USAWKF Nationals and International Wushu-Kungfu Championships This is an annual competition at the national level for athletes of all ages and levels. U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is required for participation. Competitions includetraditional wushu, modern wushu, taijiquan, health qigong, etc. At this event the following will be determined: USA National Group, School and Team Champion, USA National Individual All-Around Champion, and Single-Event National Champion. Athletes from the U.S. can register simultaneously in the International Championships and be ranked and awarded prizes for all international events.
(2) USAWKF National Junior Team Trials (Taolu) The purpose of this biennial event is to select the National Junior Team to represent the USA at the Junior World Championships. 36 junior athletes will be selected for the USA National Junior Wushu team and the top 12 junior athletes will compete in the 3rd World Junior Wushu Championship in Singapore, December 2-9, 2010. U.S. citizenship is required for participation.
(3) USAWKF Traditional Wushu Team Trials This event encourages “sport for all” participation. There is no limit on the number of athletes who can be selected. However, all participants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. The selected athletes will participate as the US Traditional Team at the 4th World Traditional Wushu Championships in Shiyan City (Wudang Mountain), China, October 16-20, 2010, which will be sponsored by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and organized by Shiyan City. (4) USAWKF and USATCCF Training Course for National-Level Wushu Taolu and Sanshou Judges and Coaches During the week before the competitions, USAWKF and USATCCF will hold training courses for national-level wushu and sanshou judges and coaches, to be taught by internationally renowned wushu experts and authorities in judging. A systematic curriculum will equip trainees with the knowledge and skills required for judging, including information on wushu techniques, theories, and scoring rules. Participants who pass the examinations will be awarded a National-Level Wushu Coach or Judge Certificate by the USA National Wushu Federation. The Coach certificate enhances the holder’s resume by recognizing his/her expertise, and is useful for publicity or professional purposes. The Judge certificate qualifies the recipient to serve as a judge at national wushu competitions as well as USAWKF National Wushu Team Trials. Earning this Judge certificate will improve the participant’s personal experience, technical knowledge, and teaching skills.
Registration for this course is offered to individuals who meet the following criteria: 1) current member in good standing of the USAWKF 2) U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or holder of a valid U.S. work visa 3) between 15 and 65 years of age 4) third place or higher finish at a national or international competition recognized by the USAWKF, OR judging experience at a national or international competition recognized by the USAWKF Details to be announced at www.WushuTrials.com.
(5) International Wushu-Health Qigong Championships (for all ages and levels) Wushu groups and individual athletes from various countries and regions are invited to compete in this competition. Open to both male and female athletes of various age groups, and covering traditional wushu, modern wushu, taijiquan, health qigong, etc. At this event the following will be determined: International school and Team Champion, International Individual All-Around Champion, and Single-Event International Champion.
(6) Nandu Competition: (for all ages and levels) The purpose of this competition is to prepare our young athletes for competitions in the international arena. The nandu competition criteria will establish competition categories similar to the World Wushu Championships standard. The latest regulations of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) Nandu scoring will be applied.
(7) Masters Demonstration and Exhibit of Traditional Weapons A Masters Demonstration by internationally renowned wushu masters as well as a showcase of traditional weapons will be held. Audiences will enjoy performances by renowned senior masters of various styles, famous coaches and world-class champions, and the China Health Qigong Federation Performance Team. The Exhibit will feature traditional weaponry collections and the finest products made by contemporary national treasure-caliber weapon makers.
(8) Sightseeing trips to scenic destinations in the Western U.S. San Jose, California, is at the heart of global high-tech center Silicon Valley, close to San Francisco and Oakland on the shores of beautiful San Francisco Bay. The Bay Area and surrounding areas have a long and rich history, and boast mild weather and spectacular scenery. The organizers and sponsors of the event will make available a choice of discounted tour packages to scenic destinations in the Western U.S., lasting one or seven days, to accommodate a wide range of participant interests and budgets. |
